January 13th East Coast Ecstatics

Ahhh the Coromandel. Let's all sigh together now at it's immense beauty. Ready. 1, 2, 3 go.... you get my drift. My favourite part of New Zealand. From forests to ocean views, white sand and everything in between.  With such a stunning backdrop, one photo definitely does not suffice. So here is a preview of our day in pics - all 410kms of it.

On the road at 8:00am... the forecast was for fine weather wasn't it? I can't even see one little patch of blue sky. Lot's of cloud Let's carry on regardless It's an outing

I can spot a wee break in the clouds. Hi ho, hi ho, it's on the Tairua road we go. With a blue sky there, and cloud back there, hi ho, hi ho.

I had heard an urban legend of a white, fluffy monster on the back roads. Do you think that is what lies ahead. Oh well if it's true, the car in front of us will encounter the urban legend white fluffy monster first.

Yay, we got here. And look at that blue sky. And let's claim a spot under the shade of a very large, pohutakawa tree. Applause please for Lonely Bay

Please help me keep digging Eddie I am sure we can reach China by sunset

Oops someone left their brain behind. Obviously some brainless wonder!

I said China is down there. Why is no one helping!

Don't worry Dad, I'll stop those pesky seagulls from getting anywhere near you. They don't call me 'Marvellous Minnie' for nothing!

Oh oh someone's on the jubbly wubbly lubbly Bubbly again. One guess should tell you who?

Before we leave, let's head up for one last look at this piece of Paradise. See those rocks at the end of  'Lonely Bay'and the Pohutakawa? That was our special shady spot to look out at the deep blue of Mercury Bay.

We came over from Thames via Tairua Let's head home through Whitianga and head up the Coast and drive over to the Coromandel.

A glimpse of forestry on the Whangapoua to Coromandel Road. A scenic ride home along the Thames Coast and that was the day that was. A perfect Summers day spent at Lonely Bay.
