June 29th A Little Bit of Kransky in My Life

A little bit of Kransky in my Life
Bites of Potato to eat with my knife
Garlic, Spinach and a Poached Egg on top reduce my strife
This is a late lunch at Scooters Cafe, I cannot tell a lie

Chantal wouldn't let me take her photo
She covered her face and said oh no
So my left over lunch had to do
What other option did I have, I needed a photo for you

June 28th. Why?

Oh why, oh why I did wonder why
When on my walk I gave a sigh
Not only was there a beautiful sky
But also discreet  (pretty cool) art work, on a rubbish bin I did spy

June 26th I Am Calling Your Bluff

It's a no brainer that nothing could surpass this for my Photo of the Day.  Bluff Oysters for lunch, and look at the size of them. Yum Yum Pigs Bum. Well Pork had nothing to do with this - so it will have to be Yum Yum Oysters Bum (Do Oysters have a bum? If so, I just ate six of them, and another six tomorrow)

June 25th Who Got The Pips Out? Who? Who?

The Mandarin Pips to be precise.  Decided to use Mandarins in an Orange Cake recipe. Even though the recipe processes the citrus whole (ie skin and all), I thought it might be a wise decision to remove the pips

And here's the finished product ready for icing:

Benny:  Minnie, you have the last sausage roll. After all you are the lady and I am a gentleman

Minnie: Oh no Benny. You have the sausage roll. You are new to these shores. Have traveled a great distance via Singapore and then spent time in a quarantine station. Please take it as a welcome to NZ gift

Benny: But I insist. You have it Minnie

Minnie: No, no Benny. Please...

Irene... Bugger the both of you. I am having it

June 23rd Desperate Housewife - Not!

Sunday was a stay at home, catch up with the chores day. So much so, that at one stage George walked into the house from outside and stated ''The house smells like a housewife's house'' Not sure what to make of that statement!  Although the below did see the light of day, which is extremely rare in this household. I confess!

And after a day of washing machines, dryers, irons and sewing machines it was good to look out at end of day and spot this sky..

June 21st I Looked Into The Sky

June 20th Oh Hail Yee Weather Gods

I didn't know weather I should use these photos or not.  Wet n wild, windy weather today with extreme contrasts.

I first woke up to this.

mmm not so bad so far. And not long later, when I ventured out we even had this....

Well by the afternoon, things took an ominous turn and the sky went even darker than this...

and by late afternoon, we had hail. And yet Hamilton has appeared to escaped relatively unscathed overnight compared to other centres.  Yes, it must be Winter time!

June 19th His Masters Voice

Who remembers these?  I vaguely remember seeing pictures of them - until today. Took a Corporate Customer to lunch and this  beauty, in perfect condition, was spotted on the pub counter. Just quietly between you and me - it was saying "take me home Irene, take me home Irene, I would look good in your home".

June 18th A Doggone Mystery!

Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree here, but this is a doggone mystery. I spotted a plastic bag hanging on our front deck gate. It was a Purina bag and packed full of Purina Beneful goodies. Not a courier bag, no note, addressed to no one as there was no envelope, absolutely nothing. Just the plastic bag crammed with these goodies.

Minnie spotted them, and said good things come to those who wait. Well she mentally transmitted the thought to me, because of course she can't speak to me apart from the odd grrrr and a cough when she needs to go outside for wee wees and/or poo poos.

June 16th Tom Yum Goong

I can feel a Tom Yum Goong night coming on. And just as well I did, as we had Lynette, Ian, Trent & Neil for dinner. But can someone give this Thai wannabe chef a kick up her well rounded posterior! I was that busy chatting as I was cooking, I forgot to add the Lime Juice and Fish Sauce to the Tom Yum as it was cooking. They were added as condiments on the dinner table. Face Slap Big Time!

ps these were only a small photogenic part of the ingredients list

June 12th Pay It Forward In Action

Our neighbour called in and gifted us these. There were too many for him so he shared some of his bounty with us. Absolutely lovely gesture.  But just between you, me and the door post - George will be eating these. They are a tad sour for my somewhat delicate palate

June 8th Irene No Mates

And this is why. Yes the dreaded lurgy has hit me again. For the second time in one month. Is this what happens when you haven't had a cold or flu for a few years?

May 31st Origami

We were thrilled to be invited to dinner tonight at friends. We enjoyed the most beautiful Romanian soup - the name Bean Soup does not do it justice. Suffice to say, we all had multiple servings, and suffice to say there will be a fair bit of wind blowing about today.

Bea, who is only 6, has self taught herself Origami. She made this gift box as a present for George whilst we were there.
