March 18th A Welcome Home Committee (Of One)

This little fella was slap bang in the middle of the door when I arrived home. This is one insect I don't mind, and can hold without going into a seizure of behemoth size!

  1. Me too, Irene. I'm quite at home with Praying Mantis. When we had a prunus plum tree growing right outside the dining room window we used to get absolute heaps of Mantis coming inside, but the tree has since been cut down and we only see a few Mantis' now. But talking of insects, the wetas came back to haunt me last Friday! I was battening down loose hatches ready for Luci's arrival and my husband had left the BBQ cover laying on the verandah and I picked it up to return it to the BBQ and lo and behold here were not one, but three full sized wetas fell out from underneath the cover. You can imagine I dropped the cover and ran like hell. As usual hubby came to the rescue. I'm afraid I will never lose my huge fear of wetas. D.

  2. That would be an absolute nightmare to have Wetas falling off a BBQ cover! That is horrible. I don't care if they are an ancient species or whatever - I absolutely hate them. Still squirming at what happened to you!!
